Broccoli with Golden Raisins and Garlic
Buy broccoli with compact bright green florets and sturdy (not bendable) stalks.
Cut 1 large bunch of broccoli into florets, leaving 2 to 3 inches of stem attached.
Peel 2 cloves garlic by first trimming both ends with a paring knife.
Peel.
Thinly slice the garlic from the stem end to the opposite end.
Fill a medium saucepan with 1 inch of water and fit it with a steamer basket. Bring the water to a boil. Place broccoli in basket, cover and steam until tender, 3 to 5 minutes.
Remove the basket and broccoli and pour out the water. Wipe out the pan to remove excess water.
Return pan to medium heat. Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil.
Add the garlic, ¼ cup golden raisins and ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes.
Cook, stirring, until fragrant, 1 minute.
Add the broccoli and ½ teaspoon kosher salt.
Stir to combine, using a large spoon.
Enjoy.

Would dried cranberries work? Not a huge raisin fan!

I very much enjoyed seeing you and your husband on Anderson Cooper’s terrific new show today.
You have a talent for making cooking appear unthreatening.
I did not start cooking until I was over 50, and now I love it.
This recipe seemed very unique to me.
I would never think to put RAISINS with broccoli.
I tried it tonight and it was excellent.

Can you leave out the red pepper flakes?? My 5 yr old doesn’t like anything with any spice to it.
